To make caramel pudding you first must make the caramel which is the dark golden color syrup found on top of the pudding.
To make the caramel:
- 3 tablespoons sugar
- 3 tablespoons water
Butter the bottom of a medium sized round Pyrex bowl. Set aside.
To make the pudding
- 1 can Milkmaid condensed milk
- 1 can water (use the empty milkmaid can to measure the water)
- 3 eggs
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
Pour the condensed milk into a bowl. Using the empty Milkmaid can measure 1 can water and add to the bowl. Then beat in the eggs and vanilla extract.
Pour the mixture into the Pyrex bowl. Place in steamer and steam for 45 minutes. Remove from steamer when done and allow to cool at room temperature for 30 minutes before refrigerating.
